Abstract

At the time this article was published Finland had a record 400 000 people without a job. Since 1989 the University of Lapland has been analyzing an experimental project called Study is Work. The project deals with training for the unemployed. Preliminary results are becoming available now that three years have passed since the launching of the project. The article describes the project and its background in more detail and reports on the results obtained so far.
