The Europe dimension in education
Abstract
The EC's internal market came into being 1st of January 1993. Referendums have been conducted in member countries on the points of expanding the community's activities to political and military cooperation (Maastricht). Although education is a societal institution of central significance, there are but a few EC directives concerning it. The article looks at the educational harmonising expectations resulting from the pressures to integrate focusing on other societal institutions. The basis for the comments expressed is provided by four memorandums on educational policy produced by the commission; these are assessed within the general cultural and educational framework.
