Abstract

The article deals with the weaknesses of adult education in Russia and the lack of a systematic approach in adult education in general. The crisis of adult education is linked to the crisis of the society as a whole, a crisis that is destroying values: convictions, beliefs and ideologies. It has as its basis the old human stereotype, "Homo sovieticus", and the associated social and educational system as whole that was based on the parent-child relationship. Presentday adult education should be such that it can help adults be adults.
