Change in values and moral upbringing
Abstract
A change in values can have a number of meanings: value systems become distributed and contradictory, the mutual ratios of emphasis between value categories change, hard values become more popular, people become less committed to values, moral values disappear. Ali these phenomena are to be observed in the ongoing value crisis. It is not a "value vacuum" that is at the core of this crisis; instead what we have is an abundance and a disunity of values, unexpected situations, opportunism and moral nihilism. This confusing situation presents schools and homes with fresh challenges in the area of moral upbringing not forgetting to combine rational guidance with the arousing of proper emotions. Another task of current interest is that of linking professional ethics with adult education.
