Abstract

The article looks at the kind of knowledge that present-day work can be based upon and the kind of leaming that work presupposes. ln addition, the article describes the tools developed at Suomen Liikemiesten Kauppaopisto (a commercial college in Helsinki) in conjunction with teacher training. These tools enable teachers to plan their teaching work in such a way that the concept of knowledge based on work will be taken into account in the best way. The authors express a desire for more discussion on the subject of the concept of knowledge. The concept of knowledge as evidenced by learning/teaching is a matter that should be taken into account when making decisions involving educational policy. This discussion should be conducted at as concrete a level as possible.
