Politics of Life in J.A. Hollo's Educational Theory
Abstract
In this article we analyse J.A. Hollo’s thoughts, especially the concept of “force of life” and its relation to his educational philosophy. These concepts are analysed in relation to Michel Foucault’s and Giorgio Agamben’s conceptualizations of biopolitics. Foucault and Agamben both see an inherent epistemological tension in biopolitics, as life is seen as both an empirical and a transcendental phenomenon. We argue that Hollo’s educational philosophy and its concept of life acquires an interesting position in relation to Agamben’s and Foucault’s views of biopolitics and the human sciences. How to Cite
