Methodological choices in studying children’s sensitive experiences – Children’s experiences with parental stalking as an example
Abstract
In this paper, we examine the methodological questions concerning children’s knowledge production when researching highly sensitive phenomena. The purpose is to reflect the process of studying parental stalking as a form of domestic violence based on children’s experiences. In the paper, we ask what kind of methodological choices can create space for children’s knowledge production. We elaborate and discuss how 1) methodological commitments and 2) methodical principles as well as 3) data collection methods can enhance children’s knowledge production. The choices underscore how carefully-made decisions in cooperation with researchers and experts on violence can enable access to children’s knowledge in highly sensitive life situations.How to Cite
