Abstract

In this article, I analyze the development of entrepreneurship education in a Finnish educational policy discourse by following the concept of an epistemic governance developed by Pertti Alasuutari & Ali Qadir. As a data I use political documents concerning entrepreneurship education between years 2003-2009. The results describe three themes which lead to entrepreneurship becoming such an influential and significant educational policy reform since the 21st century. First, educational policy actors saw the ontology of social world as a condition of constant change that requires adapting. Secondly, these actors saw subject positions at the same time as active/independent and adaptive/reactive. Thirdly, these actors saw entrepreneurship education as a kind of a hopeful illusion.
