Abstract

In this paper, the focus is on how information and communication technology is presented in five different national core curricula of the Finnish comprehensive school. Since the inception of the Finnish comprehensive school, Finnish society has changed greatly. Also, the meaning of ICT in the everyday life of people has changed. All the five curricula share the idea that information and communication technology is important, although the importance grows as we come closer to the present. Furthermore, all the five curricula share the idea that ICT is more a socially constructive activity rather than something fixed and dictated from above.
